I think most of us have heard of the Samsung Frame TV. Their popularity has skyrocketed in recent years and it is understandable as to why! My sister and parents both have them and they are truly so cool! They look sleek, sit flush to the wall, and have great picture. The best part though? They look like art! I think it is so cool that you can choose different screensavers and frames for the TV.
I have been eyeing these TVs for awhile. With that being said, we already have perfectly good TVs at our house – so I could not justify it. One day I was doing my daily Amazon scroll (don’t pretend like you don’t do it sometimes too) and came across this wood grain looking tape! I immediately bought it and tried it out on our outdoor TV and love how it looked!
I decided to buy more wood tape for our indoor TV and made this video sharing how I did it! I think it really elevated the look and I even found two hacks for getting wallpaper on your TV that I will share below!
By the way, here is the link to my budget friendly Amazon TV console! I put new drawer pulls on and love how it looks!
How to Make the DIY Samsung TV Frame
For your TV I suggest buying two rolls of tape so you have extras if you need to redo a side. I only put the tape on the outer edge (not the screen) and I used a blade on the corners to get it to sit flush. On my indoor TV I cut out the logo since it did not sit flush!
How to Add the Art: Using Youtube
For a quick and easy TV art hack, go to Youtube and search “TV screensaver” (you can also add key words such as spring, fall, winter, flowers, etc.). Beware that some TVs could burn the image, but I have not had that issue. According to LG, “It is rare for an average TV consumer to create an environment that could result in burn-in. Most cases of burn-in in televisions is a result of static images or on-screen elements displaying on the screen uninterrupted for many hours or days at a time – with brightness typically at peak levels.”
I typically only leave the screensaver on for a few hours, then I turn the TV on, change the picture, or turn it off.
How to Add ANY Art: Apple TV
If you have an Apple TV you can add any art you want to your TV! I like to look for art on Etsy, but you can also find free options online. Just search “Samsung Frame TV Art” and find your favorite!
Once you choose a photo, download the image and start a new album on your phone with JUST that photo in it. On Apple TV make sure you are logged into your iCloud, go into photos, find the album, and click “set as screensaver.” You can also go into your Apple TV settings and choose the album you made as the screensaver, then whenever you want to switch it out just delete the photo in the album and add a new one in.
TV Setting Tips
If you do not like how the image looks, you can try to up the warmth on your TV and lower the brightness in your settings. This can give it a flatter look!
It really is so easy and a fun DIY hack to have a Samsung Frame TV lookalike! Let me know if you try it!
