This past week Cameron and I drove to Colorado Springs for a little Cabin getaway! We had an absolute blast relaxing, exploring, eating, and taking in all the views! I will write a part 2 to this blogpost with our full itinerary, but I received so many questions about where we stayed so I wanted to get this post up ASAP!
There were quite a few Airbnbs in Colorado Springs that I looked into, but I was really excited to come across this little Cabin outside of town called The Twin Pines Colorado Cabin! Before I get into all the details, I want to let you know the Cabin only has one week available in November then does not have any other dates until May 2022. This may be because of the weather in the winter (the Cabin is up in the mountains) – but I asked the host if he will be opening any other dates and will update this post when he answers.
Regardless, I want to share our experience! We really enjoyed our time and the host was so nice! The cabin was built in the 1880’s and is located up in the mountains (7,016 ft elevation)! The cabin was so pretty and the inside was homey and eclectic, with lots of updates including a beautiful kitchen and nice bathrooms! My favorite part was the fire pit outside where we enjoyed our morning coffee!
CABIN PROS:
⊛ Beautiful & Cozy inside and out, plus stunning views on the drive up
⊛ Secluded and private, sitting on 1.5 acres of land & no close neighbors
⊛ Locked gate and security system
⊛ Great amenities – games, fire pits, a wishing well, outdoor grill, beautiful upgraded kitchen + more
⊛ Clean and the host was truly amazing, so friendly and accommodating
⊛ Easy drive if you live in KC since Colorado Springs is so Far East
CABIN CONS:
⊛ More expensive than most Airbnbs in Colorado Springs, but worth it if you want a real Cabin experience (and not too bad when you split it or go with a big group)
⊛ A bit hard to find, although the host sends you videos to help (do not rely on your GPS)
⊛ No service at the Cabin or on the 15 minute drive up, but the Wifi worked well
⊛ The drive is up the side of a mountain, winding dirt roads, a few turns where only one car can fit & you can’t see oncoming traffic
⊛ The “Main Street” restaurants and shopping are about a 30 minute drive
Overall, we LOVED it. We ended up leaving one day early because it began to snow (see below)! It was supposed to continue snowing/raining all night and we were worried about my car on the mountain roads. Again, this may be why the host does not have any available dates throughout the winter, but I am sure if we stuck it out we would have been fine. The cabin was definitely one of those Airbnbs that you will want to plan to spend some time at, so plan a day or two to stay in, build a fire, cook, or play some games they provide!
Stay tuned for part 2, I will share all the restaurants, activities, and outfits from the trip!
xoxo,
Lauren Emily Lindmark
